From hands-on labs to flavour-filled experiments, Spark is serving up science this summer! 

Get ready to sink your teeth into a season packed with pH experiments and surprising science. TELUS Spark Science Centre is turning up the heat with Tastes Like Science, your all-access pass to snack on curiosity, stir up wonder, and savour every moment.

Prepare to be wowed by science-tastic programming. Here’s what’s cooking:

  • Dig into Banquet, an immersive feast for the senses where food meets physics, flavour, and fun. 
  • Wander through Quantum Sandbox, a immersive pixelated playground of colour, sound, and light. It’s like stepping inside a kaleidoscope of quantum physics and Indigenous Science.  
  • Get moving in the Brainasium Outdoor Park, where you can run, climb, and burn off all that curious energy in Spark’s science-fuelled outdoor space. 
  • Catch the excitement of the Live Science Shows, featuring fire, foam, and all things gastronomy. Every day brings a new surprise you won’t want to miss. 
  • Join Get Growing with Grow Calgary and Ag for Life to explore food science and even plant something to grow at home. 
  • In the Creative Kids Museum (0-8 years old): Cardboard Creations, kids can use power tools made just for them to build their own masterpieces to take home.  
  • Spark has your back on rainy days with unlimited Infinity Dome shows and more, while exploring the science centre.
  • Experience robot dogs, roaming scientists, wow to WOAH moments, and more. Think science fair meets experimental kitchen with that memorable Spark flare. 
  • Take a flavour-filled journey through the cosmos at the Astronaut Ice Cream café with nine planetary-inspired ice cream flavours that are truly out of this world.

Made with strawberry syrup, mint syrup, fresh mint leaves, and topped with dried strawberries. Mint loves to grow near water in Southern Alberta, and wild strawberries have long been timekeepers in Indigenous traditions, signaling shifts in seasons, hunting cycles, and even weather changes.

Buzz-worthy and brain-boosting. This 16oz iced latte brings together rich espresso, golden honeycomb caramel, and a touch of summer in every sip. It’s science in a cup, served cold, naturally.

Pemmican Saskatoon Sundae | $8.49 

Saskatoon berry compote, chocolate curls, Nootka rose sugar, and crunchy pemmican bits. Pemmican was a traditional high-energy food made with dried bison meat, fat, and berries, like an early power bar, packed with nutrients to fuel long hunts and winters. Preserved naturally with pectin and mint’s antifungal powers.
