CARDBOARD CREATIONS

  • Information for Grown-Ups
    • Is the Chompsaw safe?

Yes! The saw works like a fast hole punch, moving rapidly up and down to pinch away at the cardboard. It's a tool made for children to use and promotes responsibility and confidence.

    • What happens if my child sticks their finger in it?

Within the metal guard, the gap for cutting cardboard is only 3 mm high: perfect for single ply cardboard, but too narrow for even the tiniest fingers to reach the cutting rod. Though the rod is safe to touch, with a clear cap over the top of the tool to further block little fingers from touching it.

    • Can hair or clothes get stuck in the tool?

There are no exposed spinning parts on the tool that could catch or pull hair or clothes.

    • Does the machine release debris that kids can breathe in?

There is no need to worry about flying debris or dust, as cardboard debris is drawn directly into the box.

    • Is this too loud for my kids' ears?

The machine volume is somewhere between a vacuum cleaner and a lawn mower. This isn't loud enough to damage kids' ears. We also provide headphones, once they are operating the machine.

These machines were designed by engineers who understood the difficulty of cutting cardboard with scissors and wanted to create a safe alternative. It also provides a chance for kids to experiment with power tools in a safe environment!
