Meet the Canadian who's going to humanity's orbiting lab.

Canadian Space Agency astronaut Colonel Joshua Kutryk is coming to TELUS Spark Science Centre — and he's bringing stories about training to live and work 400km above our planet. A fighter pilot. A test pilot. A man with four degrees and over 4,000 hours in the air. And now, a man headed to the International Space Station as part of NASA's Commercial Crew Program as early as this September.

ABOUT COLONEL JOSHUA KUTRYK

Colonel Joshua Kutryk is a Canadian Space Agency astronaut, Royal Canadian Air Force Colonel, fighter pilot, experimental test pilot, and engineer born in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta. He holds four advanced degrees, has flown over 40 aircraft types across more than 4,000 hours, and has been deployed to conflicts in Libya and Afghanistan. He was selected as a CSA astronaut in 2017 and is currently assigned to NASA's SpaceX Crew-13 mission to the ISS — making him the first CSA astronaut to fly as part of NASA's Commercial Crew Program.

He grew up on a cattle farm in eastern Alberta. Now he's going to space.
