Energy is received and given by atoms
But what about all the things we can’t see, or hear, or smell for that matter – how can we know what is beyond our perception?
The atoms of all materials (stars or rocks) absorb and emit light at specific frequencies. Thus, the emission spectrum is unique to any given material, giving colour to the world.
“The relationships and connections we make with other animals and world-views is the key to expanding the limited perception of the world that any one human can access.”
-Dr. Leroy Little Bear (Kainai)
"All the emission of light in the universe was first a shadow in the energy that came before - the atoms gift us this energy just as it was gifted to them previously"
-Rob Cardinal (Siksika)
From earth, we can figure out the chemical composition of a star looking at the absorption spectrum it produces. But why do we see absorption spectra from stars? A star is a source of light.Watch here
