Designed for grades 4-6

Spark's grade 4-6 learning experiences are designed to encourage curiosity and explore design thinking and scientific inquiry. We can't wait to see you and your students!

The cost of each program at Spark includes:

  • 30 students and one educator.
  • Up to 6 chaperones. Please ensure you meet the chaperone ratio required by your school board.
  • Special education aides may be included as needed.
  • Additional students and chaperones may be included for an additional fee

Lastly, some fine print:

  • It’s important to stick together! Students must remain with supervising adults at all times.
  • Before the field trip, please read the information on Spark’s “What to Expect for Your Visit” webpage, which includes our social contract for schools.
  • For all chaperones, teachers and students who have Spark memberships: thank you for your love of science! But unfortunately, Spark memberships don’t include school programs.

Action Reaction Contraption

Grade 4-6 | 90 Minutes | Workshop

Remember Mousetrap, the popular game featuring a marble rolling through a complicated contraption, triggering a net that caught a mouse? This is an example of a Rube Goldberg machine, a complex mechanism that performs a simple task. In this workshop, students are challenged to create their own contraptions by repurposing unusual objects to design and build a device for a task of their choosing! Game on!
