TELUS Spark Science Centre Unveils New Strategic Plan

Media is invited to the presentation launch of Spark’s new Strategic Plan and AGM meeting unveiling its Community Impact Report on June 18, outlining a bold vision for the future of science engagement, education, innovation, and community connection in Calgary. The event will bring together community leaders, partners, donors, and stakeholders to celebrate Spark’s impact and explore how curiosity can help shape the next generation of learners, problem-solvers, and innovators.

TELUS Spark is welcoming Canadian Natural Resources Limited as the presenting partner of Science School, a week-long immersive STEAM program that has inspired more than 19,000 Calgary students and 700 teachers since 1997. The partnership will help bring hands-on science learning to even more classrooms across the city, giving students the chance to think like scientists, learn by doing, and explore the connections between science, energy, and everyday life.

TELUS Spark is bringing one of the world’s most famous dinosaurs to Calgary this summer. SUE: The T. rex Experience, runs June 27 to November 29, 2026. Get up close and personal with this 40 foot long and 13 feet tall fossil. All your senses will be tingling as you step into the Cretaceous period and immerse yourself in how this iconic predator lived, moved, and hunted.

TELUS Spark and Alberta’s government are expanding BLUprint, an interactive skilled trades initiative designed to inspire the next generation of tradespeople through hands-on STEAM learning. Backed by a $300,000 provincial investment, the program features immersive experiences including welding simulators, carpentry, plumbing, electrical exploration, and heavy equipment activities that connect youth with exciting career pathways in the trades.

Canadian Astronaut Colonel Joshua Kutryk Touches Down for Live Talk

TELUS Spark welcomes Canadian Space Agency astronaut Colonel Joshua Kutryk for a live public talk and Q&A on May 24, 2026. Guests will hear from the NASA SpaceX Crew-13 crew member about his journey to becoming one of Canada’s active astronauts and his upcoming mission aboard the International Space Station, alongside a full day of space-themed programming included with general admission and free for Spark Members.

TELUS Spark hosts a live launch viewing event for NASA’s Artemis II mission, marking the first crewed journey beyond Earth orbit in more than 50 years. Guests get to experience the historic launch of Canadian astronaut Colonel Jeremy Hansen’s mission around the Moon through live NASA coverage, space-themed activities, expert commentary, and immersive programming inside Spark’s Infinity Dome and Inspiration Stage.

TELUS Spark is turning sport science into a party with Science of Sports: Spark After Dark, powered by ATB, on April 10 from 6:00 PM to midnight. This 18+ event invites guests to test their athletic limits with hands-on activities like LED mini golf, hockey slapshots, biomechanics labs, inflatable curling, and axe throwing, while exploring the science behind performance, recovery, and adrenaline. With live DJs, themed cocktails, sport demos, and interactive experiences throughout the science centre, it’s a high-energy night where science and sweat collide.

Supporting Calgary’s Water Conservation Efforts with Science in Action

TELUS Spark supports Calgary’s water conservation efforts during the critical Bearspaw South Feeder Main repairs by encouraging visitors and the community to reduce water use through simple everyday actions. As a LEED Gold-certified facility, Spark already uses innovative systems that collect and reuse rainwater and stormwater, reducing reliance on municipal water while showcasing how science and sustainable design can make a meaningful impact.

TELUS Spark hosts Indigenous Science Night: Sport, Survival, Spirit on March 20, inviting guests to explore Indigenous and land-connected science through interactive activities, traditional games, storytelling, and community-led teachings. From slapshot speed testing and skateboarding to arrow demonstrations and hand games, the evening highlights the science woven into movement, teamwork, survival skills, and connection to Land and community.

TELUS Spark Science Centre launched Extreme Sports: Beyond Human Limits, an interactive exhibition that explores the science behind speed, strength, balance, and human performance. Featuring hands-on challenges, athlete demonstrations, and immersive experiences, the exhibit reveals the physics, engineering, and innovation that power extreme sports while inspiring visitors to test their own limits.

Spark Unleashes New Exhibition: Extreme Sports — Beyond Human Limits

TELUS Spark Science Centre is pushing the limits of curiosity with Extreme Sports: Beyond Human Limits, an immersive exhibition exploring the science behind extreme athletic performance. Through hands-on challenges, interactive simulations, and stories from elite athletes, visitors can discover the psychology, physiology, and physics that drive humans to test the boundaries of endurance, focus, and achievement.

TELUS Spark Science Centre is bringing the beloved children’s classic Goodnight Moon to life in the Digital Immersion Gallery starting November 5. This multi-sensory experience invites guests to step inside the great green room and explore a world of nostalgia, art, and the science of sleep. Produced in partnership with Supply and Demand and licensed through HarperCollins, the exhibition transforms the iconic bedtime story into an interactive, story-driven adventure for all ages.

TELUS Spark Science Centre is hosting Indigenous Science Night: Ancestor Rocks on October 24, inviting guests to explore the science, stories, and teachings held within the oldest teachers — rocks. The evening features workshops, Elders’ teachings, hands-on activities, telescope viewing, live music, and a special outdoor cooking experience with Cree Chef Shane Chartrand. Admission is free for First Nations, Métis, and Inuit guests, with additional workshops available by ticket.

TELUS Spark Science Centre is celebrating the spookiest season of the year with HallowSTEAM: Webs, Wings & Wiggly Things, a month-long adventure running October 1–31. Families can explore hands-on experiments, meet real insects with Lady Buggy, dissect worms in Steven’s Lab, enjoy Halloween-day activities, and discover creepy-cool treats throughout the science centre. The experience is included with general admission and free for Spark Members.

TELUS Spark Science Centre is teaming up with Cirque du Soleil for a special two-day event exploring the science behind some of the company’s most astonishing acts. Through live demonstrations led by Spark’s science communicator Zack Anderson and Cirque performers, guests will uncover the physics, biomechanics, and engineering that make the seemingly impossible possible. “Science of Cirque” runs September 17 and 18 and is included with General Admission or Spark Membership.
