A Delightful Mix

Grades K-1 | 60 Minutes | Workshop

Teachers, this is a chance for students to roll up their sleeves, get a little messy and take a step into the delightful world of chemistry! By pouring and scooping, students will create various mixtures and observe chemical changes, help them use their senses to describe what is happening, and share their science delight with their households. Talk about good chemistry!

Spark Your Senses

Grades K-1 | 60 Minutes | Workshop

In this sensory-rich outdoor workshop, students get creative and build a mini-habitat for local animals using natural materials. Students are drawn into the small-scale worlds of plants and animals in urban areas to understand how natural environments in cities can be magical miniature worlds connected to the greater planet. Architecture Adventure

Grades 1-3 | 60 Minutes | Workshop

If there is something missing in your community – a skate park for beginners, a reinvented school dance hall, a four-season outdoor swimming pool – now is the time to imagine and build it! For this workshop, the science centre becomes a prototype lab for budding architects. After an inspiring “anything is possible” story of a young architect, students use materials to create a large-scale structure they would want in to see in their community.

Action, Reaction, Contraption

Grade 3 | 90 Minutes | Workshop

This is an example of a Rube Goldberg machine, a complex mechanism that performs a simple task. In this workshop, students are challenged to create their own contraptions by repurposing unusual objects to design and build a device for a task of their choosing! Game on!
