What is the Purple Galaxy Pass?

The Purple Galaxy Pass is an on-going yearly free admission pass for Grade 7 students, valid at TELUS Spark Science Centre from August 1, 2025 to August 31, 2026. It includes full access to the science centre, Infinity Dome shows, live demonstrations, Steven’s Lab, and Brainasium.

Who’s Eligible?

Grade 7 students who live within a 40km radius of Calgary, as well as students in the following school districts:

Calgary Board of Education
Calgary Catholic School District
Rocky View County
Treaty 7 Nations (Siksika, Kainai, Piikani, Tsuut’ina, and Stoney Nakoda).
Cities and towns include: Airdrie, Chestermere, Okotoks, Cochrane, Bragg Creek, Diamond Valley, Langdon, Kermoa, and Cheadle.

What do I need to bring to collect my child’s Purple Galaxy Pass?

On the first visit, a parent must bring proof that their child is enrolled for Grade 7 in the 2025/2026 school year (such as a student ID, school letter, or report card) at an eligible school to the front desk after you have registered online.

Everything you need to know about what it is, who can get it, and how it works.
- Why Grade 7?
  Grade 7 is a time for big questions and even bigger ideas. It’s a pivotal age when curiosity deepens, identities take shape, and young minds begin to explore how they connect with the world around them. The Purple Galaxy Pass is designed to spark that curiosity, fuel creative thinking, and build confidence in STEAM — Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math, through hands-on, real-world exploration.
- What cities/towns are eligible to sign up for the Purple Galaxy Pass?
  Grade 7 students who live within a 40km radius of Calgary, as well as students in the following school districts: Calgary Board of Education, Calgary Catholic School District, Rocky View County, Treaty 7 Nations (Siksika, Kainai, Piikani, Tsuut’ina, and Stoney Nakoda). - Can I sign up at any point in the school year?
  Yes! Eligible Grade 7 students can sign up anytime during the school year. Just note that all passes will still expire on August 31, 2026—regardless of sign-up date.
- How long is the Purple Galaxy Pass valid?
  The Purple Galaxy Pass will be issued every year for one year. This year's pass is valid from August 1, 2025- August 31, 2026.
- What happens if my child misbehaves or breaks the social contract while at TELUS Spark?
  If a child misbehaves or violates the social contract, parents will be contacted and expected to pick up their child. In some cases, Purple Galaxy Pass privileges may be revoked.

- Do adults get in free when their child has the Purple Galaxy Pass?
  No, only the passholder receives free admission. However, they can bring one guest per month at 25% off general admission.
- Can siblings or students in other grades get a similar pass?
  The Purple Galaxy Pass is exclusively for Grade 7 students. However, TELUS Spark offers youth memberships and family memberships that may be a great fit for other ages.
- Does the Purple Galaxy Pass include admission to other science centres?
  No, the pass is only valid for TELUS Spark Science Centre.
- Does it include discounts for RO5iE rides?
  No, RO5iE ride discounts are only available to TELUS Spark Members.
- Does it come with discounts for the Spark Store, Spark Eatery, or camps?
  No, those discounts are exclusive to TELUS Spark Members.
- Does it include free parking?
  No, free parking is only available to TELUS Spark Members.
- Is the Purple Galaxy Pass transferable?
  No, the pass is non-transferable and can only be used by the student it was issued to.
- I lost my card; how do I replace it?
  No problem! Visit the front desk during your next visit and TELUS Spark will happily reprint your card.

  Purple Galaxy Pass includes:
  - Free admission for the Grade 7 student
  - One guest ticket per month at 25% off
  - Access to science demos, unlimited Infinity Dome shows, Brainasium, and Steven’s Lab
  
  TELUS Spark Membership includes:
  - Year-round admission
  - Free parking
  - 25% off guest admission (excludes special events)
  - 10% off Spark Store, Spark Eatery, and Astronaut Ice Cream café
  - Discounts on camps, birthday parties, and special programming
  - Free or discounted admission to other associated science centres and museums
  - Access to science demos, unlimited Infinity Dome shows, Brainasium, and Steven’s Lab
  - Discounts on RO5iE rides
- Can I return my current membership to participate in the Purple Galaxy Pass?
  No, TELUS Spark Memberships are non-refundable.
- We just bought a membership for our Grade 7 child, what should we do?
  A full TELUS Spark Membership comes with extra perks like free parking, discounts at the Spark Store, Spark Eatery, and Astronaut Ice Cream café, plus free or discounted admission to other associated science centres and museums. The Purple Galaxy Pass is a great option, but does not include these benefits.
- Our family membership just expired, and now we want the Purple Galaxy Pass. What’s the best approach?
  You can register your eligible Grade 7 child for the Purple Galaxy Pass for free. If you'd like continued access for other family members, you're welcome to renew the family membership separately.
- Can I upgrade the Purple Galaxy Pass into a family membership?
  No, the Purple Galaxy Pass is a standalone offer and cannot be upgraded. Family memberships are already discounted and come with broader benefits.
- Can I pause or put a hold on my membership?
  No, TELUS Spark Memberships cannot be paused or put on hold.

Planning a school trip or group visit? Here’s what you need to know about using the Purple Galaxy Pass with groups.
- Can I use the Purple Galaxy Pass to bring my Grade 7 students on a school trip?
  No, Purple Galaxy Pass is not eligible for admission for field trips or homeschool group rate bookings.
- Is there a limit to how many Grade 7 students can visit unaccompanied in a group?
  Grade 7 students attending in groups of 6 or more will need an adult chaperone.
