Sleepover FAQ

    • What makes a sleepover at Spark so unique?

Group sleepovers are designed to offer families, teams, classes or groups (like Scouts Canada and Girl Guides of Canada) the chance to experience a fully functioning science centre, after hours! It's a unique experience. Each experience includes an Infinity Dome show, a special morning Live Science Demonstration, free time to explore the exhibit galleries, a hands-on activity, an evening snack and morning hot breakfast, and free admission to Spark the next day.

    • What times do sleepovers start and end?

Sleepover start at 6:00 PM and end at 9:00 AM the next morning. Sleepover guests may choose to take advantage of free next day admission when Spark opens at 9:00 AM.

    • What kinds of food can we expect?

Guests can expect an evening snack with a variety of pre-packaged items such as juice boxes, handi-snacks and granola or dried fruit bars. The next morning's hot breakfast will consist of waffles and sausage with a side of yogurt and juice. Please note that the sleepover menu may be subject to change without notice.

Allergies: in some cases, the Spark Eatery team can accommodate special dietary requirements if you contact them at least a week prior to the sleepover date. The kitchen uses common allergens including wheat, dairy and nut products. Guests with severe allergies are encouraged to bring a safe food alternative from home -- in this situation, Spark is happy to provide refrigerator and microwave space!

    • When should we arrive?

Please arrive between 6:00-6:15 PM for check-in. Our opening presentation starts promptly at 6:30 PM so please arrive on time. Groups that wish to enter the science centre before this time must pay for regular admission.

    • When is payment required?

Payment in full is required two weeks prior to the booking. Refunds cannot be accommodated within two weeks of the program -- though an increase to booking numbers within two-weeks prior to a sleepover might be possible depending on overall program numbers!

    • What should we bring/wear?

      The following supplies are recommended:

      · Pillow and sleeping bag or bedding.

      · Foam pad or air mattress for participants. Guardians or Chaperones are allowed to bring a single occupant cot.

      · A sleep eye mask (in case the galleries are not dark enough during the night).

      · Toothbrush and toothpaste (there are no shower facilities available).

      · Comfortable clothing and shoes for evening explorations, sleepwear and a change of clothes for the next day.

      · Flashlight.

Please also be sure to mark all items with names!

Lastly, please DO NOT pack electronics, curling irons, hair dryers.

    • Where will we sleep?

Sleepover guests will camp out in one of the main exhibits/feature galleries at night. Typically, groups will be booked into the Creative Kids Museum and one other gallery space. Within these spaces, guests will choose a safe place for their group to set up their beds. Guests may not reserve specific sleep spots in the galleries, and groups must sleep together to ensure adequate supervision and appropriate distancing between groups.

WHEN BOOKING, PLEASE INFORM OUR CALL CENTRE IF YOU REQUIRE A GIRL IDENTIFYING OR GENDER-DIVERSE ONLY SLEEPING SPACE.

    • Do I have to pay for parking during the sleepover program?

Parking is included for your sleepover program and parking codes will be provided. Guests must use the provided parking codes when arriving and before they leave Spark the following morning.
