Hands-on science, live demos, creative challenges, and immersive experiences for curious kids and grown-ups. Enjoy extra programming, pop-up activities, and plenty of chances to play, build, and test together.

SuperNova: The 100 Mile Dog 

Blast off with Nova, a seven-year-old Vizsla, and her ultra-running dad, Evan Birch! Follow their epic attempt at the Orcas Island 100 Mile race — four 25-mile loops packed with endurance, energy, and extreme cuteness. This is a story about speed, determination, and the incredible bond between humans and their dogs.

Colours and Kinetics: Chemical Traffic Light 

Transform ordinary solutions into a spectacular kaleidoscope of colors using classic redox reactions. Get hands-on, make a mess (safely!), and watch science do a dazzling dance before your eyes.

Get up close and personal with the human (well, sheep!) heart. Watch a Science Guide reveal the inner workings of this incredible organ and learn what makes it tick — literally!

Soldering: Meet Your Circuit Buddy 

Build your very own Circuit Buddy! Solder common circuit board components together and take home a memento of your new skills. Must be 8+ with adult supervision for anyone under 12.

Lego Lab: Olympic Medals 

Celebrate the Olympics by designing and building your own medal! Bring your imagination and creativity to see what amazing inventions you can make. For the littlest scientists, ages 0-8.

Celebrate Heart Health Month

Kids can build mini heart pumps, explore heart diagrams, and see how their heartbeat changes with movement. Hands-on experiments and playful activities show how the heart keeps blood moving and why staying active is key. Perfect for little scientists ages 0–8.

Get Moving with Spark Sports Weekends

Move, play, and explore the science of sport every weekend at Spark! Saturdays feature Olympic and Paralympic athletes with the Canadian Sport Institute Alberta, hands-on demos, and the science behind peak performance. Sundays bring Skydive Extreme Calgary, where visitors can explore adrenaline, focus, and reaction time, and see how science keeps skydivers safe.
