Generative AI is like making first contact with an alien species. This talk explores how these new AIs think, laugh, and love—beyond algorithms and human assumptions.

Mohammad Keyhani is an Associate Professor of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the Haskayne School of Business, University of Calgary. He co-founded HoneybeeLogic.com, builds experimental AI tools like CiteFix.com and Lstr.cc, and is the author of The Generativity Advantage.

How do insects survive Alberta’s frigid winters? Dr. Lebenzon reveals the clever traits bugs use to outlast the cold—and how their strategies could inspire real-world solutions for humans.

Dr. Jackie Lebenzon is a Physiological Entomologist and Assistant Professor at the University of Calgary. She studies how agricultural pests survive winter to improve crop management, and in her spare time creates insect-inspired art and explores the Rockies for cool bugs.

  • Dr. Peter Kusalik

Nanobubbles: Very small but oh so amazing

Nanobubbles are tiny gas bubbles with extraordinary properties—long-lived, versatile, and full of potential. Dr. Kusalik explores their surprising stability and the wide range of applications, from medicine to agriculture to even the beverage industry.

Dr. Peter Kusalik is a Professor of Chemistry at the University of Calgary. His research uses molecular simulations to study liquids and solids, and more recently, the fascinating world of nanobubbles. A native of Southern Alberta, he has published widely and received major research awards for his contributions.
